Tried to Warn You (Oarfish)
Also known as Doomsday Fish, Oarfish are notorious for washing ashore on beaches weeks before catastrophic earthquakes or tsunamis. It is thought that they are disturbed by tectonic shifts deep in the ocean where they live, and are driven onto the beach before humans can feel the effects. Because they live so deep in the ocean and the ones we see are usually dead or dying, we don’t know a lot about them. Whatever the reason, they earned a reputation of being ill omens. I think they’re gorgeous, myself.
