Mari Lwyd Print
Tis the season for strange European wassailing traditions! The Mari Lwyd hails from Wales and translates to either “The White Mare” or “The Holy Mary”, depending on how Christian you’re feeling. Mari Lwyd is a horse skull mounted on a pole that is paraded through the town, where participants engage in singing battles with the occupants of houses in order to gain access to warmth and free booze.
