Angels (after Klee)
Paul Klee was a Swiss-born German surrealist and member of the Bauhaus movement, a visionary in the fields of color theory and modern art, and a close personal friend of writer and philosopher Walter Benjamin. Among his many accomplishments, he painted a number of angels, including the famous painting Angelus Novus (which Benjamin would purchase and write an astonishingly beautiful piece on). Most of his angels were painted toward the end of his short life, after receiving his ultimately terminal diagnosis of scleroderma.
I have been thinking about Klee and his angels recently, and wanted to experiment more with his style. Here are two angels dedicated to Klee.
