Leave No Trace (Bearded Vulture)
The bearded vulture, also called the Lammergeier, is one of my favorite birds. Their striking appearance, with the distinctive bristly black facial feathers and bright red and gold eyes, combined with their unique diet of BONES make them a subject I return to over and over again. It’s been a minute since I’ve painted them, so I decided they would be the subject of my first painting of 2026. A recent discovery of human artifacts several hundred years old in their nests brought them back to my attention. I think vultures are going to be a theme in my art this year.
